WARSAW — As the calendar flips to another month and school kids are waving goodbye to their summer, Warsaw Community Public Library is keeping the excitement alive with a fantastic lineup of events for August. Here’s a glimpse of what’s coming up and how you can join the fun.
Families with little ones can kick off the month with our final Stories in the Park session at Winona Lake Limitless Park at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1. Enjoy 30 minutes of stories, songs and fun with special guest reader Leonelle Jones. Families can also look forward to two days of Library Lego on Friday, Aug. 2, and Saturday, Aug. 3. The last Family Fun Friday of the summer will be from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 2, and you can return on Aug. 3 for Library Lego from 10:30 a.m. to noon. We’ll provide the bricks; you bring your imagination. On Monday, Aug. 12, join us for Family Board Games from 5:30-7 p.m. This drop-in event features board games for all ages and is perfect for a fun evening out with the family. And for kiddos who love dogs, don’t miss Greyt Readers from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 17.
Tweens have some exciting options, too. Tween Beginning Knitting returns at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20. Space is limited to only 10 participants, so early registration is recommended. At 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, tweens can join us for Tween Create Your Own Book, where they will work in groups to write and illustrate a book. Registration is also required for this event.
Teens can enjoy another Teen Drop-In Zone from 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7. This come-and-go event features various video games and snacks.
Adults also have some exciting new events to look forward to. At 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, we’re hosting an Adult Readers Theatre Workshop. At 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, join our Traveling the United States event to discuss travel experiences and create a collage of your favorite destinations. Finally, our Adult Creative Writing Club kicks off at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, where we’ll discuss elements of creative writing and plan future meetings. Registration is required for all these events, but there is no cost.
We look forward to seeing you at these great events and making August a month to remember at Warsaw Community Public Library.
