NORTH WEBSTER — The North Webster Community Public Library has introduced a brand-new monthly program for adults starting this August: the Recipe Swap. This exciting new event invites community members to come together, share their favorite recipes and learn a new cooking trick or technique each month.

For the inaugural August event, participants should plan on bringing favorite recipes to swap, plus come for a meal prep demo by librarian Sherrie Momeyer. If you are interested in learning how to prepare foods and individual meals ahead of time, this program will help teach you tips and tricks plus give lists of foods that reheat well and are the best for meal preps. Momeyer will show package foods for meal prep, plus share some of her favorite recipes as well.

What are you doing for lunch? Join in at the library for the Recipe Swap program, where you can eat, share, enjoy and repeat. The Recipe Swap will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6. For more information, contact the library at (574) 834-7122.

Weekly Library Events

The following activities are set to take place at library. Attendees do not need to have a library card to participate in any of these events. All programs are free unless otherwise noted.

Other Adult Events

Roots and Branches Genealogy Club will be meeting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7. This month’s meeting will focus on decluttering your genealogy collection. Are you drowning in photos, papers and so forth? Not sure what you should keep or what you should toss? They will go over some basics on getting your genealogy research under control.

Learn more about the bugs in your backyard during NWCPL’s Insect ID and Control program at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8. Kosciusko County Purdue Extension Educator Emily Kresca will share how to identify the various insects that come into your yard and garden, whether they are harmful or beneficial, and what to do about them.

Beginner Tech: Internet Basics will be taking place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9. Participants will learn basic terminology, functionality and navigation of internet browsers, search engines and websites. Class is free, but please register in advance.

Teen Events

Interested in having a voice in teen programming at NWCPL? Applications are open for Teen Advisory Board for the 2024-25 school year. TAB is a great opportunity to have fun while making new friends and building connections and skills. You’ll have a chance to help design and promote teen programs and gain experience you can use for school and job applications. Teen Cafe will be happening at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5. Stop by the library to see friends, relax, enjoy snacks, make a craft, study, play board games or video games. This program is open to students in grades 6-12. No registration is required.

Relax and unwind before school starts during NWCPL’s Teen Waffle Social. Students in grades 6-12 are invited to come make their own waffles and enjoy them with a variety of toppings. They will also talk about ideas for upcoming teen programs at the library, so come and make your voice heard.
