West Noble Middle School Teacher Facing Felony Charges Involving Child Pornography
News Release
NOBLE COUNTY — On Aug. 5, detectives with the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Greg Riegsecker, 57, Ligonier, on alleged charges of possession of child pornography.
This investigation by the Indiana State Police ICAC Task Force began when a tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip ultimately led to a search warrant being served by the Indiana State Police at a residence located in the 6000 block of west CR500N, Ligonier.
As a result of the investigation, Riegsecker was taken into custody and arrested on preliminary charges of: one count of possession of child pornography, a level 5 Felony, and two counts of possession of child pornography, both Level 6 Felonies.
Of public concern, it should be noted Riegsecker is employed as a middle school teacher at West Noble Middle School. However, it should also be noted his investigation has not revealed any evidence at this time that would suggest any local children were involved or depicted in the alleged crimes. The investigation is ongoing.
Riegsecker was transported to the Noble County Jail and booked into the custody of jail staff pending an initial court appearance which is anticipated to take place at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7 in the Noble Circuit Court.
The Indiana State Police oversees the ICAC Task Force, a multiagency task force that investigates allegations of using the internet to sexually exploit or entice children. The ICAC Task Force encourages Hoosiers to report online exploitation, solicitation, and enticement-type crimes against children to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The NCMEC website can be accessed through the ICAC Task Force website.
During this investigation, the Indiana State Police was assisted by the Noble County Prosecutor’s Office, Noble County Sheriff’s Office, Ligonier Police Department, and the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations Taskforce.
