WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested for allegedly battering several people, including emergency personnel.
Felicianco Hernandez, 27, 920 Anchorage Road Lot 77, Warsaw, is charged with two counts of battery to a public safety official, both level 5 felonies; two counts of resisting law enforcement, both level 6 felonies; two counts of battery, both class A misdemeanors; and public intoxication, a class B misdemeanor.
On Aug. 4, Warsaw Police officers responded to a report of CPR in progress at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds. A concert and rodeo were happening at the fairgrounds during this incident. Upon arrival, officers saw Hernandez lying on the ground.
According to court documents, Hernandez stood up, turned around, and punched a man who was acting as a security guard for the event. When one of the Warsaw officers grabbed him, Hernandez allegedly grabbed at the officer’s hands.
During the incident, Hernandez pulled his hands away from officers and a taser was deployed. As a result of the altercation, one of the officers sustained a laceration to his right elbow and abrasions to his right knee.
Officers noticed Hernandez smelled like alcohol and noted swelling under his right eye. The swelling was present prior to officers’ arrival.
While being placed in an ambulance, Hernandez spit on the shoulders of a responding medic and firefighter.
At a local hospital, Hernandez resisted medical staff while they attempted to provide treatment. While trying to restrain Hernandez, one of the responding police officers was hit in their right chin area by Hernandez.
Officers spoke with the security guard, who said Hernandez was previously kicked out of the event for fighting. Hernandez returned several hours later and attempted to enter the rodeo. Security personnel denied entry to Hernandez, who appeared belligerent.
A second man said he encountered Hernandez at the event. He said Hernandez bit his chest.
Hernandez was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 4.
