Two Arrested In Warsaw For Resisting Arrest
Staff Report
WARSAW — Two people were arrested at a Warsaw business after resisting arrest and having a dog attack an officer.
Olivia Rene Bowser-Gibson, 24, 129 N. Roosevelt St., Warsaw, is charged with resisting law enforcement resulting in bodily injury, a level 6 felony; assisting a criminal, a class A misdemeanor; and refusal to aid an officer, a class B misdemeanor.
Brandon Alexander Mayle, 20, 120 N. Wabash Ave., North Manchester, is charged with resisting law enforcement, a class A misdemeanor.
On July 30, a Warsaw Police officer received information about Mayle having four outstanding warrants from Wabash County. The officer went to Mayle’s place of work and found Mayle, who walked away and called for Bowser-Gibson.
According to court documents, when the officer asked Bowser-Gibson if Mayle was there, she hesitated and said he was not. While the officer checked the business, Bowser-Gibson repeatedly told the officer to leave and said Mayle was not there.
The officer found Mayle and attempted to handcuff him. During this, Mayle allegedly backed away and resisted. The officer then felt a sharp pain in his groin area and inner thigh and saw a dog had lunged and bit him.
The officer issued several commands to Bowser-Gibson to control the dog, but she refused to do so and told the officer to leave. When additional responding officers told her she was going to jail, Bowser-Gibson refused to comply with officers’ instructions, backing away and thrashing her arms and legs around.
While she was being handcuffed, Bowser-Gibson freed one of her arms and continually resisted arrested while being escorted out of the business. At one point, she forcefully head-butted the floor, causing a laceration to her head. One of the responding officers sustained a scrape and bruise to his right arm, and injuries to his right knee, during the altercation with Bowser-Gibson. The officer bitten by the dog received treatment at a medical facility for his injuries.
Bowser-Gibson has already been arrested and released on bond. She has an initial hearing at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, in Kosciusko Superior Court One.
Mayle has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance for the Kosciusko County case. He is currently incarcerated in the Wabash County Jail.
