SILVER LAKE — The Silver Lake Town Council heard a citizen proposal for Trunk-or-Treat at a meeting Wednesday, Aug. 14.
Randy Hartman, who established the Seed Library in Silver Lake, spoke during the citizen comment portion of the council meeting about the lack of accessible trick-or-treating for Silver Lake kids. Hartman said that his family tries to promote trick-or-treating by offering full-sized candy bars, but hardly any trick-or-treaters come.
Hartman suggested a Trunk-or-Treat could offer a better trick-or-treating experience for kids, while allowing small businesses promote themselves. He offered to survey small businesses in the area to see if they would participate in the event.
The council responded enthusiastically, discussing possible locations and concessions. Council asked Hartman to put a proposal in writing and provide it to the clerk-treasurer before the next meeting.
In other business, the council:
- Approved Keith Harris’s request to bring in new mobile homes, with the stipulations that the one he’s currently renovating is finished and the old one gets removed by spring.
- Heard an update from the Marshal about squad car parts replacement.
- Approved $1,900 for an electrical conduit replacement.
The next Silver Lake Town Council meeting will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11.
