Area Accident Reports
Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 4:39 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, Lake City Highway and South Circle Drive East, Warsaw. Drivers: Jared Warren, 38, South Setter Lane, Warsaw; and Kyle Kammer, Champagne Court, Fort Wayne. Warren’s vehicle was following too closely when Kammer’s vehicle slowed to turn and was rear-ended. Damage up to $5,000.
- 6:19 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, North 700E and East 950N, Syracuse. Driver: Timothy Rhodes, 32, East 950N, Syracuse. Rhodes’s vehicle swerved to avoid a deer and then swerved because it was too late to stop at the stop sign. The vehicle struck a tree. Damage up to $25,000.
- 9:44 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, North SR 13, south of North Grandview Drive, Syracuse. Drivers: Dottie M. Wilburn, 77, South 700E, Elwood; and Jeremy Cahill, 50, East Old Road 30, Pierceton. Wilburn’s vehicle was following Cahill’s vehicle too closely and rear-ended it when it slowed. Damage up to $10,000.
Elkhart County
Officers with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accident:
- 3:33 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, Old US Hwy 20 and Lexington Park Drive S, Elkhart. Driver: Suzzanne Bloom, age unknown, Claypool. Bloom lost control of her motorcycle entering a turn and struck the front wheel of stationary vehicle. Bloom was ejected into a nearby yard. She was taken by ambulance to Elkhart General Hospital for a severe head laceration and abrasions.
Marshall County
Officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 11:50 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, US 6 and 1C Road, Walkerton. Driver: Hannah Stieglitz, 36, Madison, Wis. Fallen power lines caught a wheel of Stieglitz’s vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway and roll. Stieglitz was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for injuries.
- 7:14 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 3000 block Sycamore Road, Walkerton. Driver: no information available. A juvenile driver collided with a guardrail. The juvenile and another juvenile passenger sustained minor injuries.
