Fort Wayne Man Arrested For Allegedly Battering Woman In Syracuse
Staff Report
SYRACUSE — A Fort Wayne man was recently arrested for allegedly battering a woman in Syracuse.
Kenny Lynn Ferguson, 53, Fort Wayne, is charged with domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, strangulation, and intimidation, all level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Aug. 29, Syracuse Police officers went to a residence to complete a welfare check after a person reported hearing someone yell for help.
According to court documents, officers spoke with Ferguson, who said he had a verbal confrontation with someone during a phone call. He then changed his story several times and refused to allow officers to check his home.
While officers spoke with Ferguson, 911 dispatch received a call from a woman inside the home who needed help. The woman ran out of the home and officers noticed she had a black eye, bruised face, and lacerated upper lip.
She told officers Ferguson hit her chest and head so hard that her ears started ringing. Ferguson also made a verbal threat toward the woman, who estimated Ferguson hit her at least 15 to 20 times.
Ferguson said he was visiting the woman and that “things went down the wrong way,” resulting in the woman scratching him. He indicated to officers that he and the woman argued a little and that the situation went a little farther than it should have.
Ferguson was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 29.
