WARSAW — A South Bend man was arrested for allegedly stealing shoes from a Warsaw store.
Donald Louis Reygaert Jr., 52, South Bend, is charged with theft, a class A misdemeanor; and theft with a prior conviction, a level 6 felony.
On April 9, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a theft report at Shoe Carnival. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the store’s manager, who said a man left the store without paying for three pairs of Nike shoes. The shoes had a total value of $300.
According to court documents, an employee at Bath & Body Works provided the officer with information on the vehicle the suspect got into.
Upon further investigation, an officer learned the suspect vehicle was stopped in St. Joseph County on April 4. A citation was issued to Reygaert, who was driving the vehicle at the time.
Officers compared Reygaert’s BMV photo to the video surveillance footage from Shoe Carnival and positively identified Reygaert as the suspect.
Reygaert was previously convicted of theft in Elkhart County in September 2018.
Reygaert was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 29.
