‘Ashes To Art’ Creativity Workshop At Ivy Tech Warsaw

WARSAW — Ivy Tech Community College Warsaw is partnering with the Word House and the Lightbug Collective to host “From Ashes to Art: The Transformative Power of Creativity” from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13.
It’s a free writing and art workshop hosted by queer and exvangelical creatives at Ivy Tech Warsaw’s campus, 2545 Silveus Crossing. The goal is to create an immersive experience for the community as people connect and become inspired through creativity. Among the workshop leaders are published authors, a graphic designer and writing instructors.
From 4 to 6 p.m., the group will move to the Warsaw Community Public Library, 310 E. Main St., to hold a free reading and conversation event.

Featured speakers include: Cait West, a writer and editor based in Grand Rapids, Mich.; Sara Moslener, a lecturer in the Department of Philosophy, Anthropology and Religion at Central Michigan University, where she teaches courses on the history of religious and racial discrimination in the United States; Zee the Goblin, an illustrator, dungeon master, writer and designer; and Dawn Burns, the author of “Evangelina Everyday,” who holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from the University of Notre Dame and is an assistant professor at Michigan State University.
