Staff Report
WINONA LAKE — A Warsaw woman was arrested after allegedly entering a home without permission while she was intoxicated.
Carissa Ann Carter, 44, 1388 S. Honeybee Court, Warsaw, is charged with residential entry, a level 6 felony; and operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to at least 0.08 but less than 0.15, a class C misdemeanor.
On Aug. 30, a Winona Lake Police officer responded to a report of an unwanted person at a residence. A person said she was asleep in her home when she was awakened by an unknown woman standing near her face. The woman said she was there for an alcohol class.
The person told the unknown woman to leave, and she complied, leaving the scene in a vehicle. A man at the residence obtained the vehicle’s license plate number, which returned to Carter.
According to court documents, upon arrival at Carter’s residence, the officer saw Carter sitting inside a vehicle. As the officer spoke with Carter, he noticed she was exhibiting physical signs of intoxication.
Carter told officers she remembered going to a residence and that she was invited there by the homeowners. However, she could not properly name the owners or provide proof of an invitation.
A portable breath test for Carter resulted in a 0.22% BrAC. Carter also failed several field sobriety tests.
Carter has already been arrested and released on her own recognizance.
