Claypool Woman Arrested For Allegedly Using Counterfeit $100 Bill At Mentone Business

MENTONE — A Claypool woman was recently arrested after allegedly using a counterfeit $100 bill at a Mentone business.
Haley B. Markley, 32, 7208 S. 400W, Claypool, is charged with counterfeiting, a level 6 felony; and theft, a class A misdemeanor.
On Aug. 14, Mentone’s town marshal responded to a counterfeiting report at the Marathon gas station. The marshal spoke with an employee, who said a woman came to the store on Aug. 12 and used a fake $100 bill to purchase several items.
According to court documents, the bill had markings on it stating it was movie prop money.
The woman was later identified as Markley. In a phone call on Aug. 19, Markley told the marshal she found a $100 bill lying on the ground and used it to purchase items at the Marathon gas station.
Markley was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Sept. 13.
