North Webster Community Public Library — NWCPL Launches ‘Scary Stuff Series’ In October

NORTH WEBSTER — This October, the North Webster Community Public Library is offering a new program series that goes beyond ghosts and goblins, tackling real-life concerns in a modern world. The “Scary Stuff Series” will focus on practical ways to protect yourself and your loved ones from today’s hidden dangers.
The series will cover topics, such as identity theft, avoiding common scams and more, offering valuable information and tips to help you stay safe. Each session is designed to educate attendees on how to spot risks, protect personal information, and navigate today’s digital world securely.
Sessions will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 8, 15 and 22. The session on Oct. 8 will focus on how to spot scams, Oct. 15 will talk about identity theft and will finish the series Oct. 22 by talking about money-wiring scams.

Weekly Library Events
The following activities are set to take place at North Webster Community Public Library. Attendees do not need to have a library card to participate in any of these events. All programs are free, unless otherwise noted.
Adult Events
Roots and Branches genealogy club will be meeting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2. This month, learn how cemetery records, death records, obituaries and other documents might be able to help. It will also be talking about tombstone restoration and exploring the find a grave website.
Whisk and Sizzle Cooking Class will be meeting at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2. Learn how to cook fall favorites, like Brussels sprout salad, air fryer acorn squash, and pumpkin mac and cheese. Space is limited, so you must pre-register for this class by calling the library at (574) 834-7122.
Beginner Tech: Windows 11 will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4. If you are new to Windows 11, or considering an upgrade, come learn the basics of this new Microsoft operating system; register in advance.
Join in for an after-hours Friday Night Fright Feature interactive movie at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4. Enjoy the classic 1970s movie “Jaws” as an interactive movie experience where they will incorporate fun, silly things to do throughout the movie. This program is geared toward adults and children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Register in advance so they know how to plan.
Teen Events
Teen Café will be held from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30. Students in grades 6-12 are invited to stop by the library to see friends, relax, enjoy snacks, make a craft, study, play games or color.
Teen Advisory Board will be meeting at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2.
Do you enjoy art? Join in for teen plein air painting at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4. Plein air painting is the act of painting outdoors and teens will be spending some time outside creating paintings inspired by nature. Open to all tweens and teens in grades 6-12.
Children’s Events
Baby and toddler story time will be happening at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1. Join Miss Cathy for songs, stories and intentional play for children ages birth through 36 months. Sign up in person or by calling the library at (574) 834-7122. Wiggles are expected and encouraged.
Preschool story time will be meeting at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3. Mrs. Pam will be sharing stories, songs, finger plays and crafts. This event is geared toward children ages 3-6. Register in person or by calling the library. Visitors are always welcome.
