Curt Shock

Curtis “Curt” Shock, a lifetime member of the North Webster community, passed away after a brief illness at Lutheran Hospital on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, at the age of 84.

He was born on Feb. 23, 1940, to Pearl and Ruby (Lewallen) Shock in Warsaw. Curtis lived a life marked by dedication to both his family and his North Webster community. He married Suzanne Buis on June 3, 1963, in Pierceton.

Curt was a graduate of North Webster High School, class of 1959. He was drafted into the Army, where he served during the Korean Conflict. His commitment to service extended beyond his military service; he was also a dedicated and lifelong member of the North Webster American Legion Post 253, contributing many years as a member of the Honor Guard.

For many years, Curt worked as a truck driver. He was known for his strong work ethic and his somewhat ornery personality, which endeared him to many. Curtis had a passion for being outdoors; he was often seen tinkering with his lawn mowers in his spare time. He also enjoyed watching Notre Dame football and cheering for the Chicago Cubs.

In addition to his various interests, Curt was deeply involved in his local community. He loved North Webster and volunteered actively with the North Webster Food Pantry and the North Webster Library.

Curt is survived by his son, Mike Shock, of North Webster, and his cherished grandchildren, Adam (Christine) Shock, of Indianapolis, Danielle (Adam) Lock, of Warsaw, Alex Shock, of Terre Haute, and Anna Shock, of North Webster. His legacy continues with his great-grandchildren, Ruby and Lillian Shock, as well as Elliott, Ezra and Espen Lock.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Suzanne “Suzy” Shock, who passed away in November 2010; his parents, Pearl and Ruby Shock; and one brother, Richard Shock.

Arrangements are entrusted to Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8056 E. 500N, North Webster. Family and friends are invited to a visitation, which will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at the funeral home. On Friday, Oct. 4, a Life Celebration to honor Curt will be held at the North Webster United Methodist Church starting at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. The service will be led by Pastor Andy Martin. Burial with military honors from the North Webster American Legion Post 253 will take place immediately afterward at North Webster Cemetery, located at 501 N. Main St., North Webster.
