Local Volunteers Seek Donations for Hurricane Aid

GOSHEN — Local volunteers at Goshen Airport are asking for donations for hurricane relief in North Carolina.
After Hurricane Helene, flooding left some North Carolina cut off from receiving supplies. Todd Eby and Grant Baker are flying plane loads of relief materials to help out. Once at the North Carolina airport, Eby and Baker will load the supplies onto helicopters that will then deliver the supplies to the cut-off towns.
Eby said in a Facebook post that he is in contact with a coordinator on the ground in North Carolina who provided a list of the most-needed items.
There are two drop-off points for the supplies: Eby Ford, 2714 Elkhart Road, Goshen; and Goshen Airport, 17229 CR 42, Goshen.
The requested items are listed below:
- Sports drink powdered packets.
- Hydration packs (powdered).
- Baby wipes.
- Diapers (children and adult).
- Baby forumula.
- Bug spray.
- Sunscreen.
- Plastic utensils.
- Manual can openers.
- Trash bags.
- Nonperishable food.
- Cleaning supplies.
- Plastic sheets/tarps.
- Toothbrushes.
- Toothpaste.
- Toiletries/sanitization items.
- Pet food (dog and cat).
- Hand sanitizer.
- Sanitizer wipes.
- Feminine hygiene products.
- Heavy duty work gloves.
- Socks (all sizes, unopened).
The following items cannot be accepted:
- Used clothes.
- Water (due to weight).
- HAZMAT.
- Most chemicals (including bleach).
- Fuel.
- Flammable items.
