Man Arrested After Allegedly Battering Woman In Pierceton
Staff Report
PIERCETON — A man was recently arrested for allegedly battering a woman he previously harmed.
Ross Joe Reed, 39, Fort Wayne, is charged with domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor; domestic battery committed in the presence of a child and domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery with a prior conviction, a level 5 felony.
On Sept. 25, a Pierceton Police officer responded to a domestic incident involving Reed and a woman. Upon arrival at the scene, the officer spoke with Reed, who said he and the woman constantly argued. Reed indicated nothing physical occurred.
When the officer spoke with the woman, he noticed her ear was red and that she had a disheveled appearance. The woman also had small lacerations behind her ear. A child at the scene said they heard the situation between Reed and the woman escalate to a physical altercation.
According to court documents, the woman said Reed swung a bag at her, hitting the right side of the woman’s head.
Reed has a prior conviction for domestic battery in Whitley County from April 2021. The woman involved in the September incident was the victim in Reed’s prior case.
Ross was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Sept. 25. He has an initial hearing at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, in Kosciusko Superior Court Two.
