New year begins for Milford Kiwanis Club

MILFORD — The Milford Kiwanis Club started the 2024-25 year by installing officers and inducting new members at a dinner Thursday, Sept. 26, at Camp Mack.
Outgoing President Doug Strycker inducted three new members, Lori and Kevin Shell and Chelsea Rice. Rice is the new faculty advisor for K-Kids Club at Milford Elementary School.
Don Ogle, lieutenant governor of the Land of Lakes division, presided over the installation of new officers and board of directors. New officers are: Becky Alles, president; Helen Ann Strycker, president-elect; Paula Stokes, secretary; and Susie Wert, treasurer.
The board of directors are Chuck Bird, Dick and Melinda Roose, Rich Bender, Bobi Doll, Jim Newswanger, Steve Stokes and Ted and Rebeca Vogel.
As new president, Alles outlined the focus for the next year, which includes continuing to support children and families in the area, increased community involvement, inviting people to join the club, growing the “The Teachers’ Toolbox” project at Milford Elementary School, providing support to the K-Kids club, support for Riley Children’s Hospital, and expanding its mission field when opportunities present themselves.
The club’s big fall event is the “Soup Supper Cook Off” held during Meet Milford’s October’s Food Truck Friday, Oct. 18. Businesses, nonprofits and individuals are welcome to enter a soup into the competition.
