MARSHALL COUNTY — Laura Shoemaker, 68, Bremen, was pronounced dead at the scene of a car/train crash Friday, Oct. 4, on King Road, south of First Road in Marshall County.

The crash was reported at 7:10 p.m.

Shoemaker was the only occupant o the vehicle, which was struck on the passenger side by the train.

After impact, the 2021 Toyota Camry was thrown to the east and came to rest on the south side of the tracks, approximately 50 yards east of King Road.

Investigating agencies included Marshall County Sheriff’s Department,​ Marshall County Coroner,​ Lapaz Fire,​ Lapaz EMS,​ CSX Railroad Inspectors and​ CSX ​Railroad Police.
