News Release
SOUTH WHITLEY — For many, the path to a rewarding career is paved with experience and exploration. Kaylee Adkins, a Whitko Junior-Senior High School senior enrolled in the Education Profession Capstone, is already embracing that journey by working with children in a role that ignites her passion for education.
“I love being able to work with kids and giving them a place to learn skills they will use when they get to elementary school,” she said. Her current position at Little Cats Early Learning Center allows her to interact with children at various age levels, deepening her understanding of their developmental needs and fostering her aspiration to become a teacher.
She said the hands-on experience is not only enjoyable but instrumental in shaping her future. “This job gives me more experience with kids, which confirms that I want to be an elementary school teacher,” she said. She indicated the insights gained from this role are invaluable as she prepares for her next academic chapter.
After graduating from high school, Adkins plans to attend Tusculum University in Greeneville, Tenn., where she will study elementary education and also play softball at the collegiate level.
In her current role, her duties are diverse. Each day, she is present in the classroom as children arrive to ensure they feel welcomed and safe. She oversees snack time and organizes play activities, all while fostering a positive environment where children learn to interact and cooperate with one another.
“As she embarks on her journey toward a future in education, her passion and commitment serve as an inspiration to her peers and the community. With her eyes set on her goals, this student exemplifies the heart and dedication that will undoubtedly make her a remarkable educator in the years to come,” the school said in its news release.
