Huge Kids Market Sale Set For Oct. 19 In Winona Lake
News Release
WINONA LAKE — On Saturday, Oct. 19, Kids Market, a local nonprofit, will host its 40th children’s consignment sale.
The sale will be held at the Gordon Health and Wellness Center, 100 Publishers Drive, Winona Lake, on the campus of Grace College. It starts from 8 a.m. to noon, and then continues from 1-4 p.m. with the remaining items priced half off.
The sale will focus on fall/winter clothing, with newborn to
teen sizes available, and maternity clothes, all in gently used or even new condition. Shoes and boots range from newborn through adult sizes. Shoppers will also find books, toys, games, puzzles, pack-‘n-plays, highchairs, strollers, bikes, outdoor toys, bedding, nursery decor and more. Items are priced affordably for a quick sale.
The Kids Market has grown to having more than 400 consignors. Shoppers are encouraged to bring a laundry basket to carry items they wish to purchase.
“Kids Market has been a big part of our family as we have consigned, shopped and volunteered for 17 years,” said April Nelson, Kids Market board member.
“It’s exciting to see how the sale continues to grow and how it’s making an impact on our community,” Nelson said. “The sale is successful thanks to our committed consignors, shoppers and volunteers. Because of them, Kids Market has provided over $430,000 to 46 different area organizations in Kosciusko County since 2001.”
Not only do area organizations benefit from the biannual sales, but consignors also earn 66% of what they price their items. Kids Market uses the remaining 34% to cover the event overhead expenses, grants and vouchers. To set up to be a consignor, see the Kids Market website at kidsmarketinc.com for details.
Each sales event takes more than 200 volunteers to keep it running smoothly. Volunteers sign up for a four-hour shift throughout the different stages of the sale. Work includes setting up, receiving consigned items, stocking, working the sale, taking down the infrastructure of the sale and loading donations. As a thank you for their time, volunteers get to shop the sale early. There are a variety of shifts and various jobs, both sitting and standing.
