Artifacts Move To Museum
The traveling artifact exhibit, presented by the Syracuse Public Library, Syracuse-Wawasee Historical Museum and Indiana Humanities, can be viewed at the Syracuse Community Center from the evening of Friday, Oct. 11, until the afternoon of Monday, Oct. 21, in a special display case in front of the museum.
The display features blasts from Syracuse’s past, which community members lent to the library. Starting Oct. 22, community members will be able to pick up their pieces at the library after the exhibit wraps up.
This exhibit is a part of the library’s “One State/One Story: All That She Carried” programming, which is presented by Indiana Humanities in partnership with the Indiana Center for the Book and the Indiana State Library as part of Indiana Humanities’ Advancing Racial Equity Project, supported by Lilly Endowment.
Young Adult Programming
Tween Time will meet from 4-5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, in the Rosalyn Jones Room. They can make customized, spooky stamps. This activity is open to teens in sixth through eighth grade.
Young adult game night will get into the Halloween spirit and play “Horrified: American Monsters” from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, in the Rosalyn Jones Room. In this cooperative board game, players face off against classic American nightmarish beasts: Bigfoot, Mothman, the Jersey Devil, the Chupacabra, the Banshee of the Badlands and the Ozark Howler. The more creatures in the game, the harder the challenge, with players needing to use their unique powers to figure out how to defeat each monster.
Children’s Programming
School-aged children will learn how to create fall luminaries during the next CrafterNoon at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, in the downstairs meeting room.
Later in the week, families can attend story time at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, in the children’s department. The home-school class also meets at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, in the downstairs meeting room. Children in first through third grade will learn about money.
