Milford Public Library — Recent DVDs To Rent For A Fun Movie Night
News Release
MILFORD — Who is ready for a good movie night? The Milford Public Library is for sure. With the holidays upon us, the library is brimming over with movies for all your holiday needs. Currently, they have a huge display of spooky, scary, thrilling and corny Halloween movies for you to check out. There’s “Halloween I and II,” “Jeepers Creepers,” “Friday the 13th” and “Poltergeist,” just to name a few for the not-so-faint of heart. They also have the classics, like “Frankenstein,” “Sleepy Hollow,” “The Mummy” and “Creature from the Black Lagoon,” for your enjoyment. There are everyone’s favorites too, like “Hocus Pocus,” “Ghostbusters” and “Beetlejuice” for pure entertainment. These are only a few of the Halloween-inspired movies available to check out.
With Christmas just around the corner, the variety of Christmas movies available to check out is outstanding. They have all your favorites like “Elf”, “Home Alone,” “The Santa Clause,” “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” “A Christmas Story,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and many, many more. In addition, they have purchased several new Hallmark Christmas movies to add to their collection, including “The Nine Kittens of Christmas,” “Christmas Homestead” and “The Mistletoe Promise.”
The library adds new movies to its collection each month: new releases both for the adult and children’s departments. They have just added “Reacher: Season Two,” “The Crown: The Complete Final Season,” the new Kevin Costner “Horizon: An American Saga, Chapter 1” and “The Fabulous Four” to their adult collection; and in the children’s area they have added “Despicable Me 4” and “Inside Out 2.” There is something for everyone, so come by and choose a movie to take home and enjoy in the comfort of your own home.
October Is ‘Socktober’
The Milford Public Library is having another “Socktober” during the month of October. Bring new pairs of socks, any size, for babies, children, men and women to the library and they will collect your donations all month. At the end of October, your donations will be divided between the Milford School, Milford Food Pantry and Milford Food Bank. Socks are the least donated item to shelters. Everyone needs socks, especially during Indiana winters. Last year they collected 323 pairs of socks. Can they beat that total this year?
Fall Story Time
Please make plans to attend the next Fall Story Time for children ages 3-5 years old. Oct. 16 story time is all about pumpkins. Listen to stories about pumpkins and enjoy a snack that looks like a pumpkin. Craft is decorating foam pumpkin cut-outs using your creative imagination. A huge thank you to Friend of the Library, Joyce Rider, for the donation of craft materials for pumpkin story time.
LEGO Challenge
October’s LEGO Challenge is to build an owl. Children ages 3-15 are invited to participate in the monthly LEGO Challenge. If you make an owl, submit your photo to [email protected] by 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25. They will announce the winner on Nov. 1. Winners get a new LEGO kit.
13 Ghosts Scavenger Hunt
This year they are celebrating Halloween from Oct. 28 to Nov. 1. You can do the scavenger hunt anytime when they are open that week. There are 13 ghosts hiding throughout the library, looking for books to read. Pick up your scavenger hunt sheet at the adult circulation desk and find six of the 13 ghosts, then head down to the children’s department to find more ghosts. When you have found all 13 ghosts, turn your scavenger hunt sheet in at the children’s circulation desk and collect a full-size candy bar as your prize. Anyone preschool through age 17 may participate. One candy bar per participant.
Candy Bar Donations Needed
They plan to have a week-long Halloween activity at the library Oct. 28-Nov. 1. They would like to give the children a full-size candy bar for completing the activity. They will need a lot of candy bars. Anyone 17 and under can participate in the Halloween activity. Bring your donation to the adult circulation desk before Oct. 28.
