Warsaw Woman Arrested For Allegedly Battering Woman, Possessing Fentanyl

WARSAW — A Warsaw woman was arrested for allegedly battering a woman and possessing drugs.
Nyoka Joann Sexton, 31, 504 Clinic Court, Warsaw, is charged with possession of a narcotic drug and domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, both level 6 felonies; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor; and sentence enhancement possession of a narcotic drug, a level 5 felony.
On Oct. 7, Warsaw Police officers responded to a report of Sexton battering a woman. The woman said she and Sexton had a verbal argument, which escalated when Sexton punched her in the face with a closed fist. Officers noticed the woman’s cheeks were red and she had a dark discoloration under her eye.
Sexton left the scene on foot but was later located by officers. According to court documents, Sexton admitted to having an argument but denied hitting the woman.
Upon searching a purse on Sexton’s person, officers found drug paraphernalia and fentanyl. Officers also found four vape cartridges that tested positive for marijuana in a backpack on Sexton’s person.
Sexton was previously convicted of dealing a narcotic drug in Kosciusko County in May 2019.
Sexton was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Oct. 7.
