Elkhart County Parks To Host Corn Husk Doll History Event
News Release
GOSHEN — Corn husk dolls were a favorite among the pioneers and Native American children. These dolls were made exclusively of corn husk and string. However, these dolls rarely had a face. Elkhart County Parks will be hosting a class about corn husk dolls and the interesting history from 5-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1. The deadline for enrollment for the program is noon Thursday, Oct. 31. The fee for the program is $5 and pre-registration is required. Materials will be provided and an instructor will guide attendees each step of the way. This program requires a lot of tight knots and is probably not suitable for very young children.
Attendees are to meet at Ox Bow Haus Shelter in Ox Bow County Park, 23022 CR 45, Dunlap. Ox Bow Haus Shelter will be the first building on the right, after turning left onto the first road after the gatehouse. Park admission will be waived for all program participants.
