Purdue Extension Elkhart County To Host Calving Educational Program
News Release
WARSAW — Do you currently have cows or are looking into breeding your own cows? Join Purdue Extension Elkhart County’s calving program and learn about reproduction in cattle, breeding protocols, as well as, embryo transfer.
There will be a session covering dystocias and effective ways to reposition calves that aren’t positioned correctly for birth.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn hands on with the calving simulator model. The loss of a cow and/or calf due to difficult calving is a significant loss for producers so by providing this training educators are looking to provide farmers with the knowledge they need to more effectively handle those situations, if they arise.
The cost to attend the reproduction and calving program on Tuesday, Nov. 5 is $28, and lunch is provided during the program. The program will be held in the Home & Family Arts building at the Kosciusko County 4-H Fairgrounds, 1400 E. Smith St., Warsaw. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Register for this program by contacting Kathryn Jennings via email at [email protected] or by calling (574)533-0554.
