USA Today Nominates Lighting Of Shipshewana Light Parade As Best Holiday Parade

SHIPSHEWANA — The Lighting of Shipshewana Light Parade has been nominated by USA Today for Best Holiday Parade. The nomination is part of The 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, which highlights the top travel events, destinations, and attractions in the world.
The Light Parade, taking place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, is one of 20 nominees in The 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. Nominations are voted for by the public and will end Dec. 2. Top 10 will be featured in USA Today 10Best article. Votes can be cast at https://10best.usatoday.com/qr/43523.
“The Lighting of Shipshewana Light Parade is a cherished tradition not only for our town but also for the families who visit each year,” said Sonya Nash, executive director of the LaGrange County Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Being nominated by USA Today highlights the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in making this event a success. From the beautifully decorated floats to the community spirit, it truly is a magical time of the year.”
“This year will be one of the biggest light parades we have ever done,” said Andrew Rohrer, one of the event’s organizers. “The family-friendly atmosphere, food, lights and live music make for a wonderful getaway for families.”
Arrive early to claim a spot for the free parade. More than 36,000 people attended in 2023. Activities begin at 10 a.m. with shopping and the new Market on Morton vendors. Photos with Santa start at 1 p.m. Two dozen food trucks will serve food from noon to 8 p.m. The parade begins at 7 p.m., with the lighting to follow.
