Mentone Man Arrested For Marijuana Possession

ATWOOD — A Mentone man was arrested after a police officer discovered marijuana products during a traffic stop.
Jason Robert Halfacre, 49, 204 N. Morgan St., Mentone, is charged with possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; and possession of marijuana with a prior drug conviction, a level 6 felony.
On May 22, a Warsaw Police officer saw a vehicle traveling with expired registration plates on US 30, near Atwood. The officer pulled the vehicle over and identified Halfacre as the driver.
According to court documents, the officer smelled marijuana inside the vehicle. When asked how much marijuana was inside the vehicle, Halfacre lifted several bags from the passenger seat floorboard. The officer recognized the bags as being from a marijuana dispensary.
Upon searching the vehicle, the officer found various THC-infused gummies, marijuana cigarettes, and receipts from cannabis dispensaries in Michigan.
Halfacre admitted to purchasing marijuana in Michigan. He was previously convicted of dealing in a narcotic drug in Kosciusko County in January 2021.
Halfacre has already been arrested and released on bond. He has an initial hearing at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, in Kosciusko Circuit Court.
