WARSAW — Oakwood Cemetery Board of Regents, on Thursday, Nov. 7, approved price increases for services at the cemetery effective Jan. 1.

Sexton Hal Heagy said the price changes will have to go to the Warsaw Common Council for two readings.

The last time there was a price increase for cemetery lots and services was in July 2021.

The proposed rate for full body burial lots is $600, up from $500 for residents of Warsaw. The rate will be $700 for nonresidents, up from $600.

For grave openings, the proposed cost is $600 for residents, up from $500. The cost will be $700 for nonresidents, up from $550. A grave opening is the process of physically preparing a burial site for internment.

The largest increase is for disinterments. The proposed cost for a disinterment of a body is $1,200 for residents and $1,400 for nonresidents, up from $500 and $550 respectively. The disinterment for cremains will be $700 for residents and $800 for nonresidents, up from $200 and $250. Disinterment for an infant will be $400 for residents and $500 for nonresidents, up from $200 and $250 respectively..

Reinterment costs of a body will be $600 for residents and $700 for nonresidents, up from $500 and $550 respectively. Reinterment costs for cremations will go from $200 to $350 for residents and $250 to $400 for nonresidents. A reinterment for an infant will increase $400, up from $250, for residents. It will be $250 for nonresidents, up from $200.

Burials after 4 p.m. will increase to $2,000 for both residents and nonresidents. The current price is $1,000.

Prices will not change for Garden of Angel and Baby Land lots at $60 for residents and $70 for nonresidents, infant grave openings at no charge and deed transfers and trades at $75 for both residents and nonresidents.

In other business, the board:

• Heard a Veterans Day service will be at the Oakwood Chapel on Monday. Music will start at 10:30 a.m. with the main program starting at 11 a.m.

• Heard the next historical walk is planned for 2026. Heagy said video of the last walk is currently on the city’s website under Oakwood Cemetery.

• Heard the walkway in Cremation Garden #3 is being installed.

• Leaf pickup is going on in the cemetery.

• Banners for the winter season have been ordered.
