Mishler Shares Updates, Proposed Amendment To Support Law Enforcement
News Release
WARSAW — Indiana State Senator Ryan Mishler sent out a newsletter sharing updates about efforts to support law enforcement, including a proposed amendment to the Indiana Constitution.
In the newsletter, Mishler says law enforcement officers protect Indiana communities in many ways, and supporting them is one of his top priorities.
Mishler says Senate Republicans have passed new laws in recent years to:
- Raise the pay of state police officers;
- Provide funds for upgrades at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy; and
- Fund a new training facility at the Northwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.
Mishler supported a proposed amendment to the Indiana Constitution that would help keep officers safe by allowing judges to keep dangerous individuals in jail while they await trail. Under Indiana’s constitutional amendment process, this change could be ratified by Hoosier voters in 2026.
