SOUTH WHITLEY — Over the weekend, Nov. 16 and 17, the Whitko Archery Club hosted the 2024 Whitko Harvest Classic Benefit.

The benefit shoot consisted of more than 18 different schools from Indiana and Michigan and 223 archers.

But the weekend wasn’t about who had the top scores across the three divisions of archers. It was about helping the Whitko community during the holiday season.

Archers and spectators were asked to bring in freewill donations of items or money for the two designated food banks. The club collected 1,026 items and nearly $1,800 in donations.

After expenses, the club will be donating 513 items and $800 apiece to the South Whitley Area Emergency Food Bank and the Washington Township Food Pantry.
