PIERCETON — A fire near Pierceton was called in by a passerby Monday, Nov. 18, on SR 13.
Tippecanoe Township Fire Territory, Turkey Creek and Pierceton were called to the scene at 1344 N. SR 13, Pierceton. The fire was extinguished within 10 minutes. Fire crews got the call around 8:20 a.m. of a report of a garage fire.
The property owners are Micheal and Michelle Camacho. Michelle was home at the time of the fire. The pole building is located behind the couple’s home.
The couple own The Twisted Tiki food truck. All of the equipment in the pole building was destroyed, except the food truck. A Go Fund Me page has been set up by Brittney Shepherd, a friend of the couple, to help pay for the damage and get new equipment for the food truck.
As of right now, it seems like the cause was electrical, said Michelle.
“Between my homeowners and business insurance policies, all the contents should be covered,” she said.
However, a deductible still needs to be paid, with the amount yet to be determined. She is hoping it is only $2,500, but it could be more.
She is thankful for the community’s support thus far and appreciates the well wishes.
“If there’s any money left over, we will give (it) back to the community in some way,” said Michelle. “I am just so overwhelmed.”
In the meantime, she is trying to stay positive and looks forward to rebuilding and serving customers in the future.
Monetary donations will also be accepted at Rich Beauty Parlor, 808 S. Huntington St., Syracuse.
