Joyce A. Bose
Joyce A. Bose, 71, of Mentone, passed surrounded by her family at 3:51 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center of Fort Wayne.
Joyce was born on Aug. 4, 1953, in Rochester, to the late Ralph L. and Jacksie J. (Winterrowd) Calvert. She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1971 and dedicated her life to Christ in December 1974. On April 28, 1979, she married Richard Bose at the Bethlehem Baptist Church of Rochester; he survives.
Joyce worked as a hoist driver and dispatcher in the shipping department at R.R. Donnelley’s, retiring in 2009 after 20 years of service. Earlier in her career, she sold Mary Kay products and, together with her husband, operated Pizza Stop, Calico Kitchen and the Hometown Cafe of Mentone. She was a devoted member of the Warsaw New Harvest Church of the Nazarene for 17 years, where she taught adult Sunday school and generously contributed to the church through her cooking ministry and leadership in the Women of Worship group.
She loved reading the Bible and doing her daily devotions. Her favorite candy was turtles, and she had a special fondness for the Fourth of July and Christmas. Joyce was always supportive of her children’s sporting events and cherished spending time with her grandchildren, ensuring they knew Jesus. She also enjoyed traveling with her family and going on cruises.
She is survived by her husband, Richard, of Mentone; children, April and husband Rick Irons, of Mentone, and Matthew and wife Chantelle Bose, of Fishers; grandchildren, Sarah, Joshua, Joseph (Lauren), Hugh, Hazel and Erin; great-granddaughter, Vera; brother, Ricky Calvert, of Bourbon; and adopted daughter and son, Brandi Shepherd and Carl Fairfax, of Syracuse.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; and stepfather, James E. Reiken.
The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone. Pastors Andrew and Bri Hickman will officiate.
The interment will take place in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery of Rochester.
Visitation hours will be held from 3-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at King Memorial Home, Mentone.
