Vikings Slug Way To Win
FULTON – Tippecanoe Valley swung the bats well in a 10-7 win at Caston Tuesday night in varsity baseball.
Eric Hammer led the offensive onslaught for the Vikings with three singles and two RBIs. Tanner Andrews and Alec Craig collected two hits apiece. Andrews drove in a run while Craig scored three runs and stole four bases. Isaac Shewman ripped a two-run single to aid the Vikings.
Valley took an 8-3 lead after three-and-a-half played, but needed insurance runs in the sixth and seventh to hold off Caston’s rally.
The Comets (3-19) were led by Nate Callender’s three hits. Galen Rentschner and Derek Klimes each had two RBIs and Jake Kingery added two singles and a run.
Jay Myers won the game for Tippecanoe Valley, walking three and striking out three in 4.1 innings. Jarred Littlejohn pitched the final 2.2 innings for the long save, striking out three of the 10 batters he faced.
The Vikings (14-11) will host Wabash Wednesday afternoon to close out Three Rivers Conference play.
