As a child, Ashley Coleman, now 22, was given a purple tricycle that had been in her mothers family for generations. The tricycle was accidentally sold last weekend in a family garage sale.

Ashley Coleman and her mother, Stephanie Hall, both of Warsaw, are heartbroken over a mistake that has cost her family a precious heirloom.

Sometime last Thursday, Friday or Saturday, Coleman’s grandparents held a garage sale. In the sale, a purple tricycle was inadvertently sold. Almost immediately the family began pleading on social media for the return of the tricycle.

“My grandfather sold it, but it’s been in my grandmother’s family for many, many years,” said Coleman. “It has been passed down in my family through many generations. My grandmother passed it to my mom, my mom passed it to me … it goes back to at least my great-great-grandmother.”

Making the loss even harder for Coleman, now 22, and her mother is that Coleman recently had a baby daughter and was looking forward to passing the tricycle on to her. “(My mom) is horrible over this. She had to leave work on Monday because she was crying about it. She wanted my daughter to have it.”

“It’s super unique,” Coleman said of the tricycle. Although the brand is not known, “it’s purple and has a flower printed seat. It’s not the basic red ones you find today.”

The tricycle would have purchased from the Rogers home in the 1800 block of West 350 North, Warsaw. The home is near the City-County Athletic Complex. “We are willing to pay whatever to sell it back to us, we would just like it back in the family,” Coleman pleads, hoping the buyer will come forward and offer its return to the family.
