Department of Revenue Names New Officers
The Indiana Department of Revenue promoted two individuals — Tammy Jones and Shane Corbin — to leadership positions.
The Indiana Department of Revenue has named Tammy Jones deputy director, taxpayer advocate, and Department disclosure officer. Jones has been with the Department for 22 years.
Jones, an Indianapolis native, previously served as tax analyst and supervisor for the taxpayer advocate office under her predecessor Cathy Henninger. She started her career in the Department’s collection division, before moving to the bankruptcy division and briefly working in the legal division.
As deputy director, taxpayer advocate, and Department disclosure officer, Jones supervises Department staff that handles sensitive taxpayer cases. She also ensures every aspect of confidential taxpayer information is being protected by the Department, and employees are trained in confidentiality issues.
“I’m looking forward to dealing more closely with the Governor’s Office and the state representatives regarding tax matters for their constituents, learning all the different aspects of disclosure to ensure the steps already in place continue to safeguard taxpayer information, and working with other state agencies and areas within the Department to better serve our customers,” Jones said.
Additionally, the Indiana Department of Revenue announced Shane Corbin as the new deputy director of tax policy. Corbin has been with the Department since 2008.
Corbin previously served as tax policy analyst under his predecessor Deputy Director Tom Conley, who recently retired. Corbin started in the Department as executive assistant to the commissioner before becoming a tax analyst in the inheritance division. Prior to joining the Department, he was a paralegal in the collections division of the Attorney General’s Office.
As deputy director of tax policy, Corbin is responsible for generating and documenting consensus within the department regarding strategic tax policy and goals. He also provides tax guidance for taxpayers, practitioners, county officials, state legislators, other agencies and department staff on tax legislation and policy.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to cultivate friendships and good working relationships with my fellow Department of Revenue employees and helping the Department to better serve taxpayers,” Corbin said.
A two-time Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis graduate, Corbin holds a B.A. in political science with high distinction and a J.D.
