Dietz Done As Jimmies Coach
ELKHART – A familiar face to area high school boys basketball fans is leaving the area.
Ron Dietz, who has spent the last two years as the coach at Jimtown High School, has resigned effective Thursday.
Dietz has accepted a job as a middle school athletic director and physical education teacher with the Beaufort County School System in South Carolina. Dietz’ wife Gail has worked in that school system for the last 14 months.
Dietz, who has been a longtime business teacher at Concord, led the Jimmies to a 7-14 mark each of his two seasons as coach.
Dietz spent 10 seasons as an assistant coach before becoming the head coach at Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger in 1988. He was 84-48 in six seasons there with two sectional titles and one regional championship. Dietz then spent five seasons as the Concord coach, posting a 49-60 record with one sectional title. He then coached for six seasons at Mishawaka Marian, going 44-86.
