Several Locals Survive At Open Qualifier
KENDALLVILLE – A host of local golfers made the cut at Thursday’s Indiana Open Qualifier at Cobblestone Golf Course.
Leading the charge in the 26-player field was McCormick Clouser shooting a three-under 69. Clouser’s brother, McCallister, also made the cut by shooting a 75 to finish in a tie for tenth place with Warsaw’s Tyler Ostrom and New Paris’ Zach Hochstedler, all of which finished three-over for the round.
Tied for second were Warsaw native Jon Schram, Nappanee’s Brady Klotz and Justin Imel, a Norwell grad, all at one-under 71. Tippecanoe Valley grad Caleb Rovenstine carded an even round of 72 to land in fifth place while locals Griffyn Carpenter, a Triton grad, was one over and Dylan Gessinger, a NorthWood product, was two over but made the cut.
The qualifier was a precursor for the Indiana Open Championship July 7-10 at Otter Creek Golf Club in Columbus. The exempt list for the Open already includes Syracuse native Stephen Conrad and Raccoon Run owner Denny Hepler.
