Summer Reading Carnival At WCPL
By Duane Herendeen Children's Department Supervisor
It’s hard to believe that our 2014 Children’s Summer Reading Program is almost over. We thought we’d end this year’s Summer Reading Program in a big way by having a special carnival for those who took part in our reading program.
On Saturday, July 19, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Warsaw Community Public Library, we’ll be showcasing a family friendly FREE carnival that promises to be a scientific treat.
It all begins with a Warsaw firetruck wailing its siren to let everyone know the fun is starting. As you walk around outside, you’ll see a John Deere tractor on display from GreenMark Equipment and a dunk tank with eager library friends who want to get wet.
Strolling across the street, you’ll see Science Central with two tables of fun experiments and hands on learning opportunities. Did you hear a quack? Be sure to check out the rubber ducky pond and see if you win a piece of candy. You might just catch a glimpse of a friendly clown wandering the crowd so be sure to wave and smile to get their attention.
Do you enjoy playing Plinko? Be sure to find the Plinko board and see if you can get a high score. Ah, I smell popcorn! Be sure to grab a free bag and munch as you stroll the carnival.
If you’re hungry for some frozen yogurt, stop by TG’s Frozen Yogurt’s table for a free small sample. When the children get thirsty, we have Capri Sun fruit drinks available to quench their thirsts. Interested in signing up for a family getaway prize? Stop by the registration table to enter for two separate family prizes.
If you need somewhere to cool off, be sure to go in the library where you can either use our bathroom facilities or get a drink of water. While you’re inside, your child can get their face painted and try to win a pop at the ring pop game. There’s more to see but we don’t want to give away all the secrets! See you on July 19.
