Allie Hicks
Allie Hicks, 100, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, in her home in Sebring, Fla.
She was born on March 8, 1914, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Riley Shepherd and Donna Shepherd. She married Ell Hicks on Dec. 10, 1934, in Floyd County, Ky.
She lived most of her life in Kosciusko County as a homemaker. She was a member of the Rose Hill United Baptist Church in Silver Lake, Ind.
She is survived by one daughter: Dorothy Pyle, Sebring; three sons: Tom (Jewell) Hicks, Warsaw, Ind.; Bill (Cora) Hicks, Sebring; Jack (Joyce) Hicks, Pierceton, Ind.; two sisters: Mary Murphy, Warsaw; Fannie (Robert) Cozzi, Warsaw; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son: John Hicks; seven brothers: Odis Shepherd; Bill Shepherd; Virgil Shepherd; Riley Shepherd; Willie Shepherdl; Estil Shepherd; Ranel Shepherd; four sisters: Nearie Smith; Bernice Mayhugh; Ronda Shepherd; Sally Shepherd; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Rose Hill United Baptist Church, Silver Lake, Ind. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the church. Elder Harold Vance and Elder John White of Rose Hill United Baptist Church, Silver Lake will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of choice or through simple acts of kindness being done for others in Allie’s memory.
