Kris Hitchcock and STS in Warsaw
Warsaw Parks and Recreation’s free summer concert series is quickly coming to a close. We’ve seen the Chicago Blues of Mike Milligan and Steam Shovel, the funky folk of locals Alligator Blackbird, Kari Lynch Band’s contemporary country and, most recently, Meet the Beatles, who treated last week’s audience to the Fab Four’s classics.
This week, the second-to-last-show of the series will feature Kris Hitchcock and Small Town Son. The group is all country, playing a mixing of fantastic originals and classic country standards.
Hitmakers like Florida-Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Eric Church and others have taken notice of the Kris Hitchcock and Small Town Son, booking the group for opening slots in recent years. They released their first EP, “American Fire,” recorded with Nashville producer Aaron Eshuis, late last year. The record combines Hitchcock’s road-worn, blue-collar Midwestern stories with fleet-fingered fiddles and rock-tinged guitars.
The band will take the stage at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15 at the Central Park Fountain. For more information on the concert series, visit www.warsaw.in.gov and click on Parks and Recreation. Closing the series is rockabilly group the Bel-Airs on Aug. 22.
