County Dive Team Called for Drowning
The Kosciusko County Dive Team was called to Whitley County Saturday evening to help locate the body of a teenager believed to have drowned in Troy Cedar Lake.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is investigating the case.
Officers were first called to Troy Cedar Lake in Whitley County at about 6:50 p.m. Saturday. A 15-year-old Fort Wayne boy and some friends had reportedly been swimming near a beach area at the southeast end of the lake. Witnesses said the boy began struggling to swim then disappeared under the water.
The boy’s body was found by a conservation officer at 8:22 p.m. in about 10 feet of water and approximately 55 feet from shore.
The Whitley County coroner will determine the exact cause of death.
