Bryan L. Dawson

Bryan Lee Dawson, 38, North Hartzler St., Warsaw, has officially been charged with criminal confinement, a level 5 felony and domestic battery, class A misdemeanor, following an incident 10:41 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26.

Dawson was arrested and initially charged with battery with a deadly weapon and held on $2,000 surety bond.

The affidavit of probable cause, filed with the courts, states on Sept. 26 an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a battery at Dawson’s address in Warsaw. When talking to the female victim, the officer could see bruising and swelling to the right side of her face and red marks on her left arm and hand.

The female told police she came home, entered the garage and Dawson, her boyfriend, came to the door armed with a handgun.

The victim told police, an argument between the two ensued at which time he spit in her face and attempted to remove a ring from her finger. She was pushed to the floor and slapped in the face with an open hand as well as by a closed fist. Police were also told Dawson stated he was going to shoot a male friend when that individual was seen.

The affidavit further states Dawson dragged the female into the residence, down a hallway before letting her go. She was able to run outside of the residence before he caught her and started pulling her back into the house, covering her mouth with his hand, to keep her from screaming for help. She also stated he jammed something hard, believed to be a handgun, into her side.

The victim told police he let her go and told her she was going to regret this.

Police did question Dawson, who told police he did not have any handguns in the home. However, after receiving permission to search the home, police found an unloaded .22 caliber handgun, with one bullet in the magazine, in a tool box in the garage.
