Donald Duane ‘Pat’ Scott
Donald Duane ‘Pat’ Scott, 87, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., passed away on Sept. 30, 2014, at Lake Havasu Regional Medical Center of natural causes.
Scottie was born on June 10, 1927, in Milford, Ind., to A.C. and Eva Mae Scott, the third of four sons. In June of 1945, near the end of WWII, he enlisted in the United States Merchant Marines and served on supply ships throughout the world through 1947. He met Peggy Kathryn Williams in October of 1949, and they were married on Aug. 27, 1950 in Nappanee, Ind.
He was on the varsity track team for four years, Sports Editor of both the school newspaper and yearbook, and a tuba player in the Milford High School band. Scottie was a salesman for the Armour Star Meat Company for 17 years, and continued working in the food service industry in northern Indiana before founding Scottie’s Catering in Lake Havasu in 1969. Scottie was a much-loved character, always armed with a gentle wisecrack or a surprise snowball from the truck’s ice supply. When he wasn’t working, Scottie loved cruising the lake with his kids and grandkids on his pontoon boat, “Scotts ’N Water”. He and Peg were able to attend two family reunions this year in Indiana where he was celebrated as the eldest family member. He and Peggy proudly celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this past August.
Scottie is survived by his wife: Peggy and their three children: Jo Ann (Spike) Evans, Jerry (Kim) and Janet (Bart) Wagner. Scottie was very proud of his eight grandchildren: Niki, Erin, Jordan, Lindsay, Jake, Ben, Abbey and Cady, and six great-grandchildren, Addie, Ella, Charlotte, Sonia, Peter and Lillian.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Forrest (Bud), Cleon (Junior) and Frank (Skip); and great-grandson: Zach.
The family plans a celebration of life service in October.
