Possible Phone Scam Reported In Culver
According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department (MCSD), several Culver residents have received phone calls stating they are late on the paying of their property taxes and that a lien will be placed on their property and the police are on the way with a warrant for their arrest. Some calls are reportedly automated phone calls. The MCSD also reports callers are leaving messages on answering machines with a number to call back.
Anyone receiving a such a call is advised to hang up immediately and do not give the caller any information or agree to pay them. If you are behind in your taxes, Marshall County does not accept payment over the phone and we will send you a letter to let you know you are delinquent.
