UPDATE: City Vehicle Strikes Motorcycle
Charles Christie, 56, of Warsaw, was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment after his motorcycle was struck by a city vehicle.
A medical transport team from South Bend witnessed the accident and the medics on board administered care to the patient until Multi-Township EMS arrived on scene.
One of the South Bend medics told StaceyPageOnline.com that the city owned vehicle belonging to the Public Works Department, driven by Brandon Head, 20, was eastbound on Center Street attempting to make a left turn onto Harrison Street. Head told police he didn’t immediately see the motorcycle and turned into its path. Head did attempt to stop when he saw the motorcycle but it was too late to avoid the collision.
Christie reportedly attempted to lay his bike down to avoid the collision, but still slid into the truck. He suffered a head injury and complained of pain to his entire body, but those injuries did not appear to be life threatening. Christie was not wearing a helmet.
