Edgewood Volleyball On A Roll
LAPORTE – The feelings of jubilation were twice as nice for the Edgewood seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams last weekend at the Boston Invitational in LaPorte.
The seventh grade team claimed its third invite title of the season by sweeping all five of its games while the eighth grade avenged a loss to Barker Middle School in pool play to beat Barker in the final for its championship.
The seventh grade team, now 22-0 this year, beat LaPorte Boston, Michigan City Barker, Grissom (Penn) and Chesterton before meeting Schmucker (Penn) in the title game. Edgewood knocked off Schmucker 2-0 for the title.
The eighth grade team rallied from the Barker loss in its first game to beat LaPorte Boston and Grissom (Penn), then dumped Schmucker in the semis to meet Barker again, which took three games to win.
