Twelve students from Debra Collier’s School of Dance were recently honored by the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters for successfully completely levels of the organizations student honors program.
The student honors program provides a method that teachers can utilize to recognize the accomplishments of their students.
The program, open only to students of CNADM members, establishes set criteria of knowledge and ability for five different levels in the three subjects of ballet, tap and jazz.
When students demonstrate their knowledge in a specific subject through written, oral and demonstrative testing, they receive a pin and become eligible to test at the next level.
“As an education based studio, we emphasize not just the ability to execute elements properly, but the knowledge of correct terminology too,” explains studio owner Deb Collier. “Each of the students successfully passed every discipline in which they tested. We are very proud of these students and their accomplishments.”
