Roller Dolls Prepping For Big Weekend
WARSAW – It’s time to ‘Fight Like A Girl’.
The Lake City Roller Dolls are asking the community to join them this Saturday, Oct. 25, for its bout with the Ann Arbor Derby Dimes to help the girls fight cancer. The roller derby teams are raising money for the bout, which will begin at 5 p.m. at Hansen’s Eastlake Skate Center, as part of the month-long cancer awareness initiatives.
The Roller Dolls are hoping to ultimately raise $5,000 to donate to the Cancer Care Fund of Kosciusko County, with ambition its biggest aim. Among the avenues to raise funds is the Go Fund Me project coach Dyrtie Gyrtie has started, and proceeds from Saturday’s gate will also go to the cause. Gyrtie has vowed to shave her head if the goal is met, and might just do it anyways during halftime of the bout.
Doors open for the bout at 4 p.m. Saturday, with action starting at 5 p.m. Presale tickets are $5 and can be purchased from any Roller Doll or at Eastlake, or $7 at the door Saturday night.
