Chester R. Harris, 76, of Syracuse, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at his home.

He was born June 11, 1938, in Denver, Colo., to the late Clarence R. and Clara M. (Ritter) Harris. On Dec. 15, 1956, in Syracuse, he married Lavera J. Weaver.

Chester retired in 2000 from Fairmount Homes where he worked as a supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing.

She survives along with three children: Rick (Angie) Harris, Rochester; Robin Harris, Warsaw; Ron Harris, Elkhart; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother: Robert (Pat) Hashberger, Elkhart; three sisters: Bernice (Jack) Drake, Indianapolis; Donna Goorhouse, Elkhart; Kathy (Ron) Nelson, Bristol; and a sister-in-law: Nora Harris, Bitely, Mich.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Clifford Harris.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Millersburg Church of Christ, 11851 C.R. 44, Millersburg, IN 46543. Pastor David Main will preside. Elkhart Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements.
