Positive Points About TVS
Dear Editor,
Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation has been in the newspaper a great deal recently due to the upcoming general election and having three board seats up for re-election.
I would like to take a moment and show you and your readers a few positive points about Tippecanoe Valley Schools under the current school board and administration.
The current administration and staff at TVSC have the student’s best interest in mind with all that Tippecanoe Valley has to offer, such as: after school clubs, academic teams (i.e. spell bowl, math teams, academic bowl), mentors (such as school board members) at all schools, curriculum mapping all subjects K-12, modeling best practices (i.e. reader’s and writer’s workshops), implementing 21st Century Instruction Practices (i.e. introducing cutting edge technology in the classroom such as Smart Boards in elementary classrooms, three computer labs, three carts of laptops and three carts of iPads at TVMS), aligning new academic standards to current curriculum maps and assessments, the 1:1 initiative implemented at TVHS, embracing professional learning communities for morning collaboration two times a week, utilizing data to make decisions, differentiating learning for all students, providing dual credit courses to TVHS students, providing high ability classes to TVMS students, constant dialogue about student learning between teachers and administration (i.e. curriculum council, TVSC Steering Committee, grant committee, and administrative meetings), parent communication (i.e. newsletters, View of the Valley, emails, phone calls, conferences, TVSC website/classroom websites/blogs, Facebook, Twitter, and Remind 101).
TVSC also offers students the assistance of two graduation coaches at TVHS and the students of TVMS may seek guidance from the success coach which are not available at other corporations in the area.
These are just a few of the many positive things taking place at Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation. I would not want my children to attend anywhere but Tippecanoe Valley!
Impressed Parent of TVSC
